Por que mais meninos do que meninas têm autismo? / Why do more boys than girls have autism?

Você já parou para pensar por que há mais meninos autistas do que meninas autistas? Quando tive minhas primeiras suspeitas do Igor ser autista, algumas pessoas me disseram que essa condição é genética, portanto autismo não tem cura. No entanto há um dado oficial de que 10% dos autistas se recuperam inexplicavelmente, o que significa que não é genético, senão você estaria dizendo que há correções genéticas por conta própria. Bilhões de dólares foram gastos tentando provar que a epidemia de autismo é genética, porém até hoje não chegaram a nenhuma conclusão definitiva. Por outro lado, há inúmeros artigos científicos provando a ligação com metais pesados e ninguém dá bola.

Se autismo fosse genético, já que afeta mais homens do que mulheres, o distúrbio teria que estar ligado ao cromossomo X. Certo? Mulheres sendo XX e homens XY. Como as meninas têm 2 cromossomos X, um deles seria o cromossomo bom, assim o autismo não se manifestaria tão frequentemente em mulheres como se manifesta em homens, que têm apenas 1 cromossomo X. Ou seja, para a menina ser autista ela teria que ter os dois cromossomos X, recebidos do pai e da mãe, comprometidos. Ok, até então dá a impressão de que é genético mesmo. Mas há um problema nessa lógica. Imagine a situação de um pai, que passou seu único cromossomo X para sua filha autista. Esse pai também tem que ser autista, já que seu único cromossomo X seria o afetado. Será que toda filha autista tem pai autista?

A única forma mais aceitável de dizer que é genético seria o caso da pessoa ter uma predisposição genética a não conseguir processar toxinas com facilidade.

Voltando ao caso de que tem mais meninos autistas do que meninas. A proporção hoje é de 4:1. Ou seja, há quatro meninos autistas para cada menina autista. Somente quando o autismo é entendido como exposição tóxica generalizada é que se consegue explicar porque em todo lugar os meninos são quatro vezes mais afetados. Pesquisadores têm mostrado que o hormônio testosterona aumenta a toxidade do mercúrio, enquanto o estrógeno da mulher age como proteção ao mercúrio.

Portanto, se a pessoa tem predisposição, ou seja baixa capacidade para lidar com metais pesados, e nunca foi exposta a eles, essa pessoa não será autista. Lembrando que há outros fatores que podem influenciar como seu organismo processa metais pesados, por exemplo, fungos, parasitas, vírus e flora intestinal. Todos esses fatores criam essa grande variabilidade de como o ser humano é afetado pelo autismo, por esse motivo é chamado de espectro.

In the other hand, there are many scientific papers proving the connection between heavy metals and autism and no one cares.

If autism were genetic, because it affects more males than females, it would have to be an X-chromosome-linked disorder. Right? Girls, having two X chromosomes, would then have a redundant good chromosome, so the disorder would not manifest as often in females as in males who have only X chromosome. In other words, a girl to be autistic would need to receive a defective X-chromosome from each parent. Ok, in this way it looks like it is genetic. But there is a problem with this logic. Imagine a situation of a father who passes his only chromosome X onto his autistic daughter. This father must be also autistic, since his only X-chromosome would be affected. Does every autistic girl have an autistic father?

The only more acceptable way to agree it is genetic, would be the case of a person with genetic predisposition which makes him/her unable to process toxins easily. Let's go back to the fact that there are more autistic boys than autistic girls. The ratio today is 4:1. That is, there are 4 autistic boys for each autistic girl. Only when autism is understood as a widespread toxic exposure, you can explain the fact that everywhere boys are affected about 4 times more often with this disorder than girls. Researchers have established that testosterone increases the toxicity of mercury, while estrogen protects from it.

Therefore, if a person with genetic predisposition, that is low ability to deal with heavy metals, and was never exposed to them, this person will not be autistic. Keep in mind that there are other facts which can influence how your body process heavy metals, for instance fungus, parasites, virus and intestinal flora. All these factors contribute for this wide variability of how the human being is affected by autism, and that's why it is called spectrum.
